History and Geography 2016 - 2017

The Autumn term has been a very busy one for History and Geography learning in our school. The children in year 1 studied Florence Nightengale and had a visit from her, the children learnt all about the differences between hospitals then and now. In Year 2 the children studied the Great Fire of London, the children even designed their own Tudor homes and then burnt them, just like the Fire of London. Year 3 went to the Open Air Museum to support their learning of the Iron Age and Stone age, they carried out many different activiites and had lots of fun. The children in year 4 and 5 both went to the British Museum to help support their learning in their topics on the Ancient Egyptians and the Ancient Greeks. Year 4 also had a wonderful time Mummifying one another. The children in year 6 went to RAF Hendon and had the opportunity to go into the WW2 classroom and experience what it was like to be a child during the war. The children have all developed their skillls in Geography focusing on map work and developed their sequencing skills ordering key events.
