History Day

The theme for our history day was our local history.  The curator from Three Rivers Museum and Fabian talked to us about the history of the local area and the Grand Union canal. Each year group studied a different aspect of our local history. Nursery and Reception looked at toys which may have belonged to the children who lived at Langleybury House in Victorian times; Year 1 studied the Grand Union canal and walked along the canal; Year 2 researched Hunton Bridge and visited the village; Year 3 learnt about Langleybury House; Year 4 covered the Franklins Bottle Factory; Year 5 studied famous people like William Penn and Year 6 researched factories such as Croxley Mill. The children were able to handle artefacts, read documents and letters to make hypotheses, observations and suggestions through discussion and research. At the end of the day each class displayed their work and shared their learning with other classes as they moved around the school.
