This half term we will be thinking about the Easter story.
We will be making Easter gardens and thinking about why people put crosses in an Easter garden.
We will be thinking about the significance of the Cross; making stained glass crosses; crosses using duplo and junk modelling and trying hot cross buns.
We will continue to think about rhyme and listen for words which sound the same; generating our own rhyming strings.
We will continue to practise our fine motor skills and develop this to help with writing our names.
For Book Day we will focus on the story of Jasper’s Beanstalk as well as other stories around this theme. We will consider the way stories are structured; we will also join in with stories and learn the repeated refrains.
We will plant beans and link this to our understanding of growth and decay.
We will develop our maths skills using counting songs and rhymes as well as using Numicon. We will match numerals with quantities and begin to learn one more than and talk about one less than. We will look at amounts of objects and know when we have the same amount.
We continue to develop our PSED skills by listening to each other and following the class rules. We will be encouraged to work together and take it in turns.
We will be holding an open afternoon when you will be able to come into Nursery and see the children’s work on display and have a look through your child’s Learning Journal (date to be confirmed)
What a busy half term!
