The children have been learning to show a number using a ten frame. They created a number by placing two-colour counters on the ten frame. The children worked with a partner to describe what they could see on each other’s ten frame. For example, “I can see three blue counters and four red counters. Altogether, I have seven counters. Four squares are empty.”

We used chalk to draw our own ten frame on the ground. As a challenge, Mrs O’Sullivan asked us to record the number sentence on the whiteboard.
