Summer 2

Our final half term in Nursery has come around very quickly! This half term we shall be looking at all the phonic sounds covered over the year. We will practise the sounds; think about words beginning with that sound and the letter formation. We will continue with syllable clapping and discussing alliteration.

The stories we will focus on will be The Three Billy Goats Gruff – we will be changing the story to make our own ending where the goats befriend the troll. We will also look at The Gingerbread Man and practise the structure of the story and the repeated refrains. We will also learn the fable of the Hare and the Tortoise. We will learn these stories and act them out together using props we make ourselves.

During Maths we will be consolidating much of the maths work we have covered over the year, such as one more than and one less than; using vocabulary associated with weight; comparing 2 groups of objects; using positional language; estimating then checking.

Our RE focus is about why God is so important to Christians. We will be talking about and linking discussions and activities around this. We will be thinking about who God is and how God is special to Christians. We will be thinking about how we take care of our own special things and we will learn the song and actions to, ‘Our God is a Great Big God’.

We will join Reception and have Sports Morning as well as lots of other exciting activities.
