  • Macbeth at St Paul's

    Tue 29 Nov 2016

Macbeth was the name of the play our Year 6 performed this year, as part of the Shakespeare Festival 2016. The children get the amazing opportunity to work with the Royal Shakespeare Company. They performed at The Abbey Theatre, St Albans and were... BRILLIANT.

The children had a dress rehearsal in the morning and then performed to an audience of around 200 people that evening. They received professional feedback on their performance and on the technical and artistic interpretations.

Max was in the lighting box and did a fantastic job as technical manager with transforming light changes and sound edits.

There was good use of music too with classical excerpts used for dramatic influences.

The children were impeccable performers. They had purpose, projected, were focused and the Ensemble work was very effective. Lead characters performed with drive, intent and were very believable.

The feedback from parents was overwhelming and very positive.

The school were treated to a dress rehearsal too before the Final performance and they were all in awe. Just think Year 5, your turn next year!

  • Arts at St Paul's

    Wed 16 Nov 2016

The Arts are thriving at St Paul's. Over the last term dance, music and art have been explored and skills developed with visitors, staff and children have experienced some exciting opportunities.

Year 4 took part in the local SSP Dance Festival. They performed a vibrant routine (complete with glittery bowler hats) to a Jungle Book song. Ben Vasey (a local dance teacher) supported our Y4/5/6 classes again this year with some contemporary dance lessons.

Our displays around the school this term have been focussed on the theme of portraits and explored a particular artists style. So we have Seurat to Picasso portraits around our school. I am pleased to announce that as part of our Arts Curriculum we have organised a trip to the National Gallery for the KS2 children. This will take place in March 2017.

Finally our School Choir is as busy as ever with rehearsals underway for the Colosseum Concert in Watford and the KS2 Carol Service. This year we have an extra concert to prepare for. Our Choir will be singing at the 02 in London as part of the Young Voices Concert. This promises to be quite an event.

  • 50th Birthday Celebrations

Thu 03 Nov 2016 Mrs Winter

2017 marks our 50th anniversary of St Paul's CE VA Primary School moving from the Old School House in Hunton Bridge to Langleybury Lane.

To celebrate this special occasion we have organised many special events from a commemoration service led by the Bishop of St Albans, a Ball at Hunton Park and a whole school trip to Whipsnade Zoo!

Our special day is the 8th of March 2017 and we hope to have lots of ex-pupils and staff joining us to celebrate.

If you know of anyone who used to come to the school or used to work at the school, please ask them to email the admin address and give us their name and contact details.

If you have any ideas or would like to get more involved with these events, please speak to Mrs Winter.

Thank you and here's to our 50th!
