  • Mutli-Cultural Day

Fri 15 Feb 2019 Miss Martindale

Today was a very special day at St Paul's where we learnt all about the country South Africa. We were inspired to learn about South Africa as lots of us have links to this country through families, friends, holidays and even the staff! Mr and Mrs Bewley visited South Africa last year to support a charity called The Sozo Foundation. This charity has been set up to support local people who do not have a safe place to do their homework, a cooked meal every day or the chance at a good education with job opportunities. During the morning they inspired us by telling us about the work of The Sozo Foundation.

Throughout the day every class made their own South African themed baked goods and we sold them raising an amazing £200 for The Sozo Foundation. Thank you to everyone that came to our bake sale and helped to raise this money. If you would still like to donate to this wonderful cause you can via this link: https://www.give.net/bemorenate

The fun did not stop there! Have a look at the pictures below to see our wonderful South African inspired art work, Gumboot dancing (with our wellies on!), food tasting, music and a talk from Mrs Ashley about her life in South Africa before she moved to England.

  • Feeling Good Week

Fri 15 Feb 2019 Miss Martindale

We have been thinking about different ways to help ourselves and each other feel good this week. The Health Committee, with the support of Mrs Wilson, created some ideas that they thought might help us all to feel good!

*The 'I'm Feeling Good' Bucket - than you to all of the children that nominated someone who has helped them to feel good, not just this week but always! If you were nominated then well done for being such a wonderful role model!

*Scooters - who doesn't feel good when they're riding a scooter? Doing exercise helps us to feel good in lots of different ways. Perhaps you could do this at home more to help you to feel good!

*Mindfulness - from colouring to relaxing music and breathing techniques e have been trying different mindfulness activities this week. These help us to feel positive and focused.

*Circle Time - this week out PSHE lessons have been focused on wellbeing and thinking of different ways that we can look after our bodies ad our minds by being active, learning, giving, connecting, noticing and caring. During our circle time sessions we thought about what makes us feel good and how we could help someone that is feeling worried.

We did lots more throughout the week so have a look at the different class pages to see what they did. Hopefully we can use what we have learnt not just for Feeling Good Week but every week to help us to feel more positive and to learn more!

  • KS2 CEOP Assembly

Thu 07 Feb 2019 Miss Martindale

Year 3- 6 were treated to an assembly by a special vistor called Kelly today. She works for the organisation CEOP and talked to us about how to stay safe online. We were reminded about the need to be 13 years old to use websites such as Instagram and Facebook and that if we ever feel that we are not safe online we must talk to a trusted adult.

Thank you Kelly for helping us to think about keeping our passwords safe, our location services switched off and how to stay safe when using live streaming!
