  • Year 5 Maths Challenge

    Fri 31 Jan 2020
A group of children from year 5 participated in a maths challenge yesterday. They competed against 21 other schools in rounds which tested their memory, arithmetic, estimation and problem solving skills. They did amazingly well and placed 3rd! A huge congratulations, well done!
  • Woodrow - Day 3

    Wed 22 Jan 2020

We have thoroughly enjoyed our last day at Woodrow! Today we have been working on our survival skills when filtering water and building fires; and conquering our fears on a challenge course. We had pizza for lunch and then visited the shop to buy souvenirs. Mr Gunning, Mrs Hart and I are incredibly proud of the behaviour of every child throughout our stay. Their manners, determination and team work have shown what wonderful children we have at St Paul’s. We are now on the coach heading home - see you soon!

  • Woodrow - The Last Night

    Tue 21 Jan 2020
This evening we had a delicious dinner of sausage and mash! We then had a campfire built by Mr Gunning and sung songs with Mrs Hart. We ate a lot of marshmallows! We’re back inside now, having showers and getting ready for another movie before we settle down for our last night here. We have had a wonderful time! Some Woodrow staff commented this evening on the exceptional behaviour of all the children and said that they have never had such a polite school. We are feeling incredibly proud of them!
  • Woodrow - Day 2

    Tue 21 Jan 2020

Year 5 have had a lovely day so far! We started with a continental breakfast of pastries, ham, cheese, porridge, toast AND a selection of cereals. We are certainly not going hungry. This morning Miss Cohen came to visit us and we built dens and explored a trail with blindfolds. We also had a brilliant time in the heated swimming pool. After a lunch of jacket potatoes, we are ready to start our afternoon activities - bushcraft, challenge course and nightline.

We will give you an update this evening after our dinner and campfire!

  • Woodrow - Day 1

    Mon 20 Jan 2020
We have had a lovely first day at Woodrow! This afternoon we have been building shelters and catapults. We had Italian night for dinner with a choice of risotto or lasagne. The children ate the whole lot! This evening we played some games in the hall and then hide and seek in the dark. We’re now all ready for bed enjoying a movie with popcorn, crisps and sweets.
  • Woodrow - Year 5 have arrived!

    Mon 20 Jan 2020

Year 5 have arrived at Woodrow for their residential visit. We have had our tour of the grounds and are enjoying our first activity, a scavenger hunt. We’re really enjoying ourselves in the sunshine!

  • The Snowman

    Thu 16 Jan 2020
Year 1 to year 6 have had a very exciting afternoon. We have been to the theatre to see a ballet performance of The Snowman! The children were beautifully behaved and set a wonderful example to the public; we are all very proud. A huge thank you to the parents who accompanied us and to the staff, particularly Mrs Webster, Mrs Graham and Mrs Ashley who helped to organise the trip. Come and see the work we will be doing after our visit which will be on display around the school.
  • RE Day

    Tue 14 Jan 2020

Our first theme day of 2020 was RE Day! We chose to focus on worship and different faiths. We researched how different religions worship in different ways. Reception and Nursery - Christianity, Year 1 and 2 - Islam, Year 3 and 4 - Judaism, Year 5 - Hinduism and Year 6 - Buddhism.

We all completed some artwork and written work to do with how, where and why different religions worship. We also had a very special treat from Mrs Whitby and Mrs Butcher who taught us a different way of worshipping through the use of music and flags. We look forward to doing more work with them throughout the year.
