  • The School Choir and Year 5's Visit to The Blind Centre

Wed 27 Mar 2019 Miss Martindale

This afternoon, the school choir and year 5 went to The Blind Centre in Watford to perform some of their latest pieces. The children all sung and played their ukuleles beautifully. Everyone there commented on how impressed they were with the children's talents and asked us to come back again soon.

The most wonderful thing to see was the way that the children interacted with the people at the Blind Centre with such care and kindness. The year 5 children took their ukuleles around and even taught some people how to play a few notes! It was difficult to leave they were all having such a lovely time. All of the children should be incredibly proud of themselves and of the impression they gave of the whole school.

  • Inspector Right's Easter Assembly

Wed 27 Mar 2019 Miss Martindale

We had some vey exciting visitors on Tuesday to our school - a priest, a soldier, Pilate, Peter, a guard and an inspector. These special guests came to visit us during the day so that we could ask them questions to help the inspector find out what really happened to Jesus. We presented our findings as case files on each person to the chief inspector at the end of the day. We had to think carefully about what we believe happened to Jesus at Easter.

A huge thank you to Mr Bewley and Reverend James for helping to bring the Easter Story alive and to certainly make it memorable for the school!

  • Year 1's Creative Curriculum Assembly

Tue 19 Mar 2019 Miss Martindale
We were privileged to hear all about what year 1 have been leaning about in their creative curriculum topic in their class assembly this morning. We heard some pirate songs, watched some pirate dances and got to see the different things that they had been making. Well done Year 1, you were all fantastic!
  • Science Week

Mon 18 Mar 2019 Miss Martindale

Last week we celebrated Science Week by doing some exciting investigations in our classes. Each class had something different to investigate ensuring we created fair tests and recorded and analysed our results effectively.

  • Book Week

Mon 11 Mar 2019 Miss Martindale

The children have had a wonderful week writing their own books for book week. We had a chance to dress up as our favourite mythical or animal characters from books on World Book Day and were inspired by a visit from author Jenny Ford.

This week every class displayed their finished books and the whole school went on a walk around each class to read them. The different styles of books from pop-up books, lift-the-flap books and eBooks really showed off the children's creative flair. The writing inside blew the children away. If you get the chance, you must come in and read some!

  • A visit from author Jenny Ford

Mon 04 Mar 2019 Miss Martindale
Today we were very lucky to have a visit from a real author! Jenny Ford is the author of Tilly and the Magical Mermaid and Joshua and the Magical Unicorn. She gave us lots of tips for how to improve our own writing and explained the importance of editing and improving your first draft. The children had lots of very interesting questions about how they can improve as a writer and about Jenny's love of reading. The children are now feeling very inspired to write their own books this week!
  • Our new iPads!

Fri 01 Mar 2019 Miss Martindale
Year 4 and 5 were first to try out our brand new iPads this week! Year 4 used them to improve their times tables using our new maths apps and Year 5 went on a prayer trail around the school grounds scanning QR codes to find out more about the Easter Story. A huge thank you to the Friends for purchasing these extremely valuable learning resources for us and also to every parent and visitor who has contributed to any of our events organised by The Friends. It is these events and the money that is raised which help our children to have these wonderful learning experiences.
