We are the St Paul's Eco Warriors and we were elected by the children in our class to help make our school greener.
At St Paul's, we are part of the Eco-Schools programme which enables schools to embark on a meaningful path towards improving the environment in their school and their local community. We are working on completing a seven step framework to gain awards leading up to Green Flag success. By completing these steps we are given the opportunity to work on the ten topics shown below. We aim to focus on three topics every academic year. Take a look below at some of the activities we have completed already in previous years.
Autumn Term 2021
In the first half of the Autumn Term we asked the children in our school what they think we do well and what we could do better at to be more Eco-Friendly. We completed an environmental review of our school, using this and the Pupil Voice to choose our three topics to work on and created an action plan! We chose Waste, Litter and Transport. We then designed posters to put up around our school and on the Eco Warriors board to remind people what we and they should be thinking about in school.
In the second half of the Autumn Term we wrote a letter to the local council asking for more bins and food caddies to help us recycle our rubbish. Due to COVID the school had to stop recycling and just use one bin for all rubbish. We also asked for a new water butt and compost bin to compost the food waste we produce. We will keep you posted to see what the council are able to provide us!
Spring Term 2022
Due to COVID we had to stop our weekly meetings, but now that we can start this up again, keep looking on this page to see what else we do towards earning our Green Flag Award!
