Year 5

Welcome to Year 5!

It's the summer term at last! This term is certainly my favourite as we get to spend time outside learning about the world around us. We are learning about plants in science this half term so when you're out for a walk keep an eye out for plants and flowers and notice how they might be changing. Have a look at what we have been learning about so far in our pictures below. We will be adding lots more throughout this half term. Remember to look at the Year 5 Home Learning page for tasks to do at home.

Our topic this half term is all about Vikings. We will be learning about how these fascinating people, with a bad reputation, took over towns and villages, become kings and fought vicious battles. We will also be finding out about some important people from this time: Alfred the Great, Edward the Confessor and William the Conqueror.

See our curriculum newsletter below to find out more about what Year 5 will be doing this term and remember to keep visiting our website to see all of the things we have been learning about. Take a look at some of our learning  experiences so far.

  • Homework is set on a Thursday and is due in the following Tuesday. In Year 5 you will receive 1 piece of maths homework and 1 piece of either English or topic homework.
  • PE is on a Monday and a Wednesday so please make sure you have your PE kit in school including appropriate footwear.
  • You are expected to read at home at least 3 times per week. This needs to be recorded in your link book.
