How to get help if you are worried about your child's mental health
If you are worried your child may be experiencing wellbeing or mental health issues, please talk to your child's class teacher at the first instance. Any concerns will be passed on to our SEND Lead Mrs Derby. Support will be provided following out tiered approach to SEMH and wellbeing which could be in the form of monitoring, nurture groups or support from external agencies, depending on an individual's needs.
Though our staff are trained to offer support at school level, we cannot act as mental health experts and we do not try to diagnose conditions. We have clear systems and processes in place for identifying possible mental health concerns, including routes to escalate concerns and clear referral and accountability systems. We endeavour to create a safe and calm educational environment and strengthen resilience before serious mental health problems occur.
