Welcome to Nursery!

Spring 2

Welcome back! We hope you had a lovely week. We are really looking forward to this half term, with lots of exciting learning opportunities. Spring is finally on its way!

Have a look on this page regularly to see what we will be learning about as well as in the half termly curriculum newsletter and weekly bulletins, to look at photographs of our experiences and to find out other important information related to the class.

This half term our topic is "Getting Around" where we will be learning about transport on the land, water and air. We will start the topic off with thinking about walking and will read 'We're Going On A Bear Hunt'. We will be reading a selection of fiction and non-fiction books about transport and there will be opportunities for the children to re-enact stories and to mark make as part of their play, such as making train tickets, writing vehicle sounds and finger painting to create maps to the bear cave. They will also be continuing to read and write their names. We will be singing songs about transport, playing to the beat of a song or piece of music using percussion instruments and we will learn about different kinds of water (seas, lakes, rivers, rainfall). Our RE theme will be answering the question 'Why do Christians put a cross in an Easter garden?' The children will make their own Easter gardens and use paint to create Easter cards. In nursery, we base our activities on the children's interests so other, perhaps different, learning and activities will come about each week depending on what the children are excited about.

PE will be on a Monday and Show and Tell will be on a Wednesday this half term. Shared Reading will be on Wednesday 18th March from 9 – 9.25am.

If you would like to come in and read a story to the class at the end of the morning or end of the day, this would be a real treat for the children and it is another way to share with them the joy of reading. Do let us know in the link book if you would like to do this and we can sort a date.

Please come and ask us any questions you may have. We are always here to help.
