Welcome to Nursery!

Summer 1

Welcome back! We hope you had a lovely Easter break.

Have a look on this page regularly to see what we will be learning about as well as in the half termly curriculum newsletter and weekly bulletins, to look at photographs of our experiences and to find out other important information related to the class.

This half term our topic is "Down on the Farm" where we will be learning about farm animals and their babies, jobs on the farm and food grown on a farm. We will be reading a selection of fiction and non-fiction books related to farms and there will be opportunities for the children to re-enact stories and to mark make as part of their play, such as writing animal sounds, finger painting animal footprints and drawing shelters for the animals. They will also be continuing to read and write their names. We will be singing songs about farm animals and exploring rhythm, pitch and volume through listening to music and playing instruments. The children will also learn about minibeasts and what plants need to grow. They will explore colour, painting, collage and printing with the theme of plants and animals.  Our RE theme will be answering the question 'Where do we belong?' and we will think about what it means to belong to a faith. In nursery, we base our activities on the children's interests so other, perhaps different, learning and activities will come about each week depending on what the children are excited about.

PE will be on a Monday and Show and Tell will be on a Thursday this half term. Shared Reading will be on Thursday 30th April from 9 – 9.25am.

If you would like to come in and read a story to the class at the end of the morning or end of the day, this would be a real treat for the children and it is another way to share with them the joy of reading. Do let us know in the link book if you would like to do this and we can sort a date.

Please come and ask us any questions you may have. We are always here to help.
